The Beyond Trails Way

Not just a trek.
A journey that stays.

Beyond Trails is Nisargshala’s outdoor-learning journey for children, teens and families who want more than a weekend outing.

Here, the Sahyadris become a living classroom—full of cloud valleys, old forts, forest trails, rivers, village paths and stories waiting to be discovered.

Every journey is designed to build confidence, curiosity, trail discipline, teamwork and a deeper connection with the natural world.

Nature is not a backdrop. It is the teacher.

What They Carry Home

Skills earned
beyond the trail.

Every Beyond Trails journey is designed to leave children with more than photographs. They return with small, powerful skills that slowly shape how they see themselves and the world around them.

01

Confidence

Small steps on a real trail become proof that “I can do difficult things.”

02

Nature Observation

Learning to notice clouds, birds, insects, forests, water and changing weather.

03

Teamwork

Moving together, waiting for others, sharing responsibility and celebrating as a group.

04

Trail Discipline

Respecting the mountain, following instructions and leaving natural spaces better than we found them.

05

Navigation

Understanding routes, landmarks, direction and the landscape around them.

06

Resilience

Learning to adapt to rain, mud, tired legs and unexpected moments with calmness.

Parent Trust

Wild journeys.
Thoughtful safety.

Adventure is meaningful only when it is responsibly designed. Every Beyond Trails journey is planned around age, terrain, weather, group pace and the wellbeing of every participant.

We do not rush children through the mountains. We help them move with awareness, confidence and care.

Questions Parents Ask

Before the trail
begins.

We want every child and parent to feel prepared before stepping into the Sahyadris. Here are answers to the questions families ask most often.

Can parents join the Valley of Clouds Trek?

Yes. The Valley of Clouds Trek on 12 July is designed for Huppya Cubs aged 8–10 years, and parents are welcome to join as companions. Children remain the heart of the journey, while parents get to share the experience alongside them.

Does my child need prior trekking experience?

No. Huppya Cubs journeys are designed as gentle first outdoor adventures. Children should be reasonably active and comfortable walking on uneven natural trails, but no previous trekking experience is required.

What happens if there is heavy rain?

Safety comes first. Routes, timings and activities may be changed based on rainfall, trail condition, water flow and local advisories. If needed, Nisargshala will communicate the revised plan with registered participants.

What should participants carry?

A detailed packing checklist will be shared after registration. It will include rainwear, sturdy footwear, water bottle, snacks, personal medication, a change of clothes and other monsoon essentials.

How difficult are the Beyond Trails journeys?

Every journey is designed according to age group and programme level. Huppya Cubs begin with gentle nature trails, Huppya Explorers take on more structured fort and traverse routes, while Sahas Expeditions are for older teens ready for more demanding terrain and overnight journeys.

Where will reporting and transport details be shared?

Registered participants receive clear reporting time, pickup or meeting point, route details, leader contact information and the final event briefing before the journey.
